Every year, there are certain movies that scream "OSCAR!!!" and don't fulfill... "Amelia"....... Anyway, this year, I thought that "Conviction" was going to be that movie. Then I saw it.
I greatly admire Hilary Swank because I happen to love "Million Dollar Baby" and "Boys Don't Cry." So, it seemed like a good idea to see "Conviction." I was so surprised. This movie was amazing. The acting was perfect; the leads were perfectly cast, no doubt about it. Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell were nothing short of amazing. Swank never once had a bad moment and showed determination.
It is based on the true story of Betty Anne Waters, who became a lawyer to prove her brother innocent of a murder she is sure he did not commit. This may seem like a hard legal drama, but it was rather light and easy to understand. Swank and Rockwell played brother and sister very convincing and drove the overall force of the movie. Every scene was visually satisfying as well.
Overall, it seemed very believable and I very greatly enjoyed it.
